Tucked into the Southwest Corner of the US/CS, the Borderlands are a loose collection of independent settlements that cooperate for purposes of trade and self-defense. While they remain largely isolated from the incursions of such nefarious organizations as Central Rail and the New Reich, the Borderlands must contend with New Mayan slavers from the Junkyard, hordes of zombies from beyond McCarthy's wall, assimilation by the Mormons of Smithhaven and Super-Mutant death squads from Santa Fe.

As is the case with all the ruins and wastelands of the US/CS, the Borderlands are filled with a variety of hazards and horrors connected to the Reich, the Rifts and the explosions that gave birth to them on D-Day - 75 years prior. But it inhabitants also have to contend with among the most challenging topography in all the US/CS that both protects and isolates them.
